La Grange is an enchanting property in the heart of the beautiful Gascon countryside. Peaceful and secluded, with stunning views over fields to the medieval village of La Sauvetat (where you'll find a café/restaurant and épicerie), this is the perfect place to unwind.
Originally a barn, the main house has been converted into a wonderful open-plan home offering accommodation for up to 8 people. The front door opens into a magnificent, full-height living and dining room on the right, and a second living/TV room on the left. The two are separated by a modern, fully-equipped designer kitchen area.
Fully glazed at one end, with doors opening onto a terrace overlooking the garden and salt water swimming pool, the main living room is a great space - light, modern, warm and welcoming. There is a woodburner, stylish contemporary furniture, and an integrated drop-down cinema screen with projector. The smaller room on the other side of the kitchen has a log burner, satellite TV and comfy furnishings to provide a cosy, more intimate area.
Also on the ground floor is the master bedroom, with en-suite conservatory shower/steam room, a separate w/c, and satellite TV. Patio doors open onto the terrace and garden so this room, too, benefits from the lovely views.
Upstairs are three comfortable double bedrooms and a beautiful snail-form shower room and w/c. All these bedrooms have French windows opening onto a balcony and terrace, and there is access from the mezzanine landing to a first floor decked area overlooking the garden.
The house is full of delightful touches. Doors and stone ‘Jali’ from India, fountains from India and Morocco, oak and walnut floors, Rajasthani slate tiling. And of course there are five marvellous granite elephants making their way up through the orchard to the swimming pool!
Across the garden from the main house, a charming traditional cottage offers accommodation for up to 7 people. The kitchen/living room has an open fireplace and modern kitchen facilities. There is a delightful double bedroom with French windows leading to the garden, and an en-suite shower room. A further double, and a twin room are also on the ground floor and share a wonderfully quirky shower room with cube bath. On a gallery overlooking the kitchen is an additional single bed - ideal for a teenager perhaps.
At the top of the garden is a discreet atelier which is occupied by the owner when in residence.
The natural gardens at La Grange extend seamlessly into the surrounding countryside. There are several areas perfect for lingering over long lunches, or where you can simply sit and enjoy the views and the wildlife. This is a magical spot, sensitively developed by the owner with appreciation of the countryside and Gascon living in mind.
