Winter Rental Availability in Gascony: and a Special Offer for Chateau Puissentut

As the winter months draw in, we’re thrilled to announce our winter rental availability in Gascony as well as our exciting new combination holidays: beautiful country houses that are also ideally situated for skiing in the Pyrenees, when you choose to – Simply the Best of Both!

First to feature as one of our new combination properties is Chateau Puissentut, which is also part of our special offer series, with availability for two weeks over the Christmas and New Year 2021 period at a 20% discounted rate, equalling just £7200 per week for a property sleeping up to 20 guests (with extra room for 4 in a separate cottage).

If you’ve ever fancied visiting Gascony, then spending Christmas at Chateau Puissentut isn’t a bad way to start! Out of season and away from the tourist months, winter in Gascony offers a unique chance to view this beautiful and unspoilt area of Southwest France when it’s at its quietest. Wonderful countryside, low air pollution and population density, plenty of pretty marketing towns and history, and not to mention the mouth-watering selection of local wine and food – a winter holiday in Gascony can be whatever you want it to be.

That includes an active holiday. While Gascony is great for walking, hiking and cycling, it’s also ideally placed for skiing in the Pyrenees, as and when you like, without the expense or pressure of staying in a ski resort. At Simply Gascony, our preferred Pyrenees ski resort is Saint Lary, which offers around 62 miles of ski slopes over three areas at 1700-2000 metres and has a lovely village atmosphere with plenty of shops, restaurants, clubs, and markets. Saint Lary prides itself on providing ideal skiing for all ages and especially for young children and beginners. Equally, Piau Engaly is the highest ski station in the Pyrenees at 2600 metres and offers guaranteed snow with challenging runs for more experienced skiers. This resort is purpose built, very high, with lots of lifts and ideal for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

A little more about the property:

Puissentut is an ancient Chateau presented today with modern comfort, warmth and style. Puissentut sleeps 20 in the main house and 4 in a separate cottage. With a professional kitchen, chef available, a range of catering options, large dining-room, warm fires, living room/library and a large Games Room, bikes and great local walks what more could you want for a wonderful Christmas? The Pyrenees are also just a two-hour drive away by car, meaning you can easily set out for a day’s skiing should you wish during the course of your winter break.

Chateau Puissentut is very spacious, with ten large en-suite double bedrooms in the main house and one double and one twin room in the separate Cottage. It’s a great winter house with central heating, atmospheric, open fireplaces and a wood-burning stove.

There’s a living room/library, dining room and study, large TV, music system and WiFi, providing lots of space and plenty to do inside should you tire of activities or sightseeing – such as jigsaws, board games, backgammon, chess, cards, and of course good Wi-Fi for streaming films and a music system.

Outside as well as the table tennis in the barn, there’s a local tennis court and horse riding can be arranged. The picturesque surrounding countryside lends itself to photography and painting with very pure and clean air.

Christmas Holiday period any two weeks between 18 December 2021 and 8 January 2022.
